A Framework and Criteria for new members of our coalition “Matriarchy Now”
External Criteria
1. Basic knowledge about matriarchy and modern Matriarchal Studies
The shortest way would be to read the website of the Academy HAGIA, there exist short texts and YouTubes explaining the basics of matriarchy etc. www.hagia.de Additionally books and study courses of HGA, and others.
2. Organizations guided by matriarchal mothers and matriarchal women only.
If these organizations will include men as members or not is up to them, but they must be guided by women.
3. Matriarchal organizations
They declare themselves to be matriarchal organizations, and they promote this label in public.
4. The size of these organizations
The size in regard to members and connections should be 1000 plus, in order to avoid a lot of tiny groups coming into the coalition.

Power Among / Power With
At the heart of a Matriarchal Organization is the recognition that every person who contributes is powerful and sovereign. We are committed to dismantling the exploitation embedded within capitalist, colonial, white supremacist, and heteronormative patriarchal systems — and replacing those structures with genuine equity.
6. Consensus-Based Decision Making
Community-Led Governance
Decisions are not made for the community — they are made by the community. Consensus-based and forum-based models should be practiced that center the voices of those most affected by organizational choices. This means slowing down to listen, creating genuine space for dissent, and trusting that collective wisdom produces better outcomes than top-down directives.
7. Practising the Maternal Gift Economy Movement
Generosity as Organizational Practice
We hold that unilateral gift giving and receiving in infancy form the basic human socio-economic paradigm, contrary to capitalist market economies, which are parasitic upon humans and Nature. We want to individually and collectively return to this maternal economic model for humanity as a whole, beginning in our sharing networks and communities
8. Peace with Mother Earth
Right Relationship with the Living World
We recognize all of nature as sovereign — a participant in the conversation, not a resource to be consumed. This pillar is expressed through a return to land-based knowledge and Indigenous land stewardship, permaculture and regenerative land practices, soil tending, water protection, land defense, and environmental justice advocacy at every level of our work.
9. Mother and Child Centered
Policies that Honor the Work of Caregiving
A Matriarchal Organization puts mothers and children at the center of its institutional design — not as an afterthought, but as the structural foundation. We reject the motherhood penalty and build policies that make it possible to be a whole person, caregiver, and contributor simultaneously.
